This Christmas, rather than using store-bought cranberry sauce, I made a spiced berry sauce to go with the roasted turkey.  I put together a combination of fresh and dried fruits with a can of jellied cranberry and some spices and the result was delightful. If you like sweet sauces, this should go well with any roasted meat.

Actually, it makes a nice jam too 🙂

SPICED BERRY SAUCE

Ingredients
500 gm fresh cherry (or strawberry)
250 gm dried cranberries
100 gm raisins
1 stick cinnamon (about 3″)
10 pcs cloves
Juice from 1 lemon
Rind from 1 lemon
Sugar to taste

Method
1) Put all the ingredients to boil in a pot.

2) Lower heat and leave to simmer for an hour until fruits are soft and pulpy.

3) Stir occasionally to prevent sauce from burning at the bottom of the pot.

4) Serve warm with roasted meat, especially turkey.

5) Enjoy !
