Yesterday marked another milestone for our church as we joyously gathered together in the morning to praise and thank God for His faithfulness and blessings upon our church over the last 23 years. And what a celebration we had.  As always, food was in abundance as members chipped in with home-made desserts both hot and cold. May we continue to grow in God’s love and be a blessing to the communities around us. Thank you God for all Your providence!

It’s always a joy to come together with fellow members to serve at times like this. For this event, I made a large Apple Pie, an Angel Cake and Sweet Dates Roll.

For reasons only God knows, my family was recently blessed with not one but several boxes of premium Arabian dates, all from different people who went either to Dubai or Doha. It was impossible for us to finish eating them all so it was just wonderful that we could share it at this very special event. God surely knows His plans…haha….

stuffed with candied orange peels to assorted nuts, our wonderful friends brought us all these delicious dates from their trips to Saudi Arabia

SWEET DATES ROLL

For the dough, please refer to recipe on Golden Apple Pie.

Method

1) Roll dough to retangle shape (cut off excess from the sides with a pastry knife)

2) Place dates on dough in two rows.

3) Roll up dough (up to the first row of dates) like a swiss roll and cut off the first row with a pastry knife. Repeat same with the second row of dates and the rest of the dough.

4) I use a pastry roller with design to make patterns on the dough.

5) Cut into desired size and place slightly apart on a greased baking tray or simply line baking tray with parchment.

Psalm 136:1-26 (New International Version)

Psalm 136

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever.

to him who alone does great wonders,
His love endures forever.
who by his understanding made the heavens,
His love endures forever.
who spread out the earth upon the waters,
His love endures forever.
who made the great lights—
His love endures forever.
the sun to govern the day,
His love endures forever.
the moon and stars to govern the night;
His love endures forever.
